Great stuff. Its plain to see the importance of Antoine and Adu to our team. Disappointing though that the opposition managed to put on 50 runs for the last wicket!!

I take it that we sold a couple of players and have bought that 23 year old. Seems that we've raked in a stack of cash. Who's been sold?

We have only sold Cawood, for over £150,000 as a nice bonus for the youth academy's money-making potential! I bought Rodrigo in as a squad player for £2k given the intorduction of first class matches next year. I'm looking at doing the same for a bowler (£4/5k, no more), then maybe if the next youth pull doesn't give anything buying in a good bowler to replace Midworth. Let me know what you think about all that. We have money to play with but we shouldn't do anything rash.

Marsh outbowled Macey in the friendly again, I think that debuting him and Murdoch in place of Macey and Donnelly against Dave Mohammed XI is a good idea.

Well, with us taking it easy and Dave Mohammed XI seemingly accepting relegation, we beat them by 213 runs, making 369-1 and bowling them out for 156. Adu carried his bat for the MOTM and a career-best 196*, Beattie got 144 opening, and Skalding took 3-38 from 10 as well as Marsh taking 3-36 from 7 in their reply.

That has to have been our best result to date. Excellent stuff from Adu and finally Beattie comes to the party. Marsh starting with 3 wickets almost straight away during his opening spell was pretty special too. Our team is getting pretty damn solid at the moment. Bodes well for the future I reckon.

I think, from the friendlies, that Beattie seems to "prefer" opening, so maybe he should bat at 1 now with Rajesh at 4? I was delighted with marsh, but the team Dave Mohammed XI put out were poor - I checked and they had a firesale recently, selling all but two or three of their best players. Still though, it was effective new ball bowling!

If we beat Owzat! next week we get third, go for it?

Yeah, they were good matches Dreinked. We should schedule mroe this season when we're out of the cup!

As for our start to the season, we have beaten two robot teams easily in the cup and have a division V team on Sunday, and in our first OD match we thrashed Owzat! in a low-scoring affair on our dusty, bowler-friendly pitch. Eric Beattie finally mastered his art and hit 70 to dig us out of early trouble, assisted by an anchoring Rob Wright (41). Our 238 was a gettable total, until Marsh (3-38) and Skalding (4-26) and Midworth (2-6!) came to the party.

First class matches are due to start tomorrow. I've tried to pick as good a side as possible whilst prioritising OD matches and preserving the fitness of those one-day players who have poorer stamina. I really think we should field our strongest team in OD matches, and as our squad builds up over time we can improve the FC side/use it as a feeder to OD.

Matt Murdoch is coming on in leaps and bounds, having bought him as a respectable batsman with worthless stamina and concentration, he now has strong batting and woeful concentration as of today, and feeble stamina! Once he reaches mediocre stamina his fitness net will go to Shane Acton to try to teach him some batting for the meantime! At that time he will probably move to open in place of Rideegammanagedera who will make a good number four in time.
