First class matches have been postponed until next season, not running correctly apparently.

...but that doesn't matter because we thrashed Ducks today! A nine wicket win, chasing down 117 in 14 overs. Wright and Midworth did the business with the ball, Adu and Cooper with the bat. We're now clear on top with 8 points and a NRR of 8. Long may this run continue!

What a great victory! Marsh must be over the moon at having taken the KEY wicket of England international Daniell for only 28 runs.

It just shows what a good job the Connells' board are doing!

Yeah, Marsh is a gem and often does a Simon Jones with his first or second ball...I just hope his fitness is better!

We lost in the cup, underestimating Cheadle Hulme Titans, but the league is the priority. We can organise friendlies from now on...

Bit of a funny one today, Marsh and Wright had off days and got carted, but Adu and Beattie both bagged hundreds as we chased our target of 259 with 9/10 overs to spare. Good stuff.

Yeah - a funny one. The oppo didn't lose many wickets, but didn't really succeed in upping the run rate. Adu and Beattie took their bowling attack apart. Must have been one of the only games where Antoine didn't bag any wickets.

True, he's only our fourth best bowler at present with Midworth still leading the way. He'll get going soon enough though.

I see that Young Boys Burn, last season's title winners, lost to Owzat! today, who we thrashed earlier in the season. That's good news for us, but I think we really need to beat Thornley CC next week to set down the standards in our league.

Well, we lost to Thornley disappointingly last week, but this week we beat bottom club The Only Way is Up by 7 wickets. Adu has 3 hundreds in 3 innings and Wright picked up 4-51.

Connells Go 4 Points Clear!

A series of excellent results for CECC has put them in an excellent position for the title challenge at this early stage of the season, reports occasional reporter Inchin Le Pen:

Owzat! and Ducks both lost today, and Connells won against Scotland, the team who recently lost their manager and their way after formerly being a giant in IV.8. Connells' decision to take it easy today was justified as they won at a canter, chasing down 243 with 12 overs to spare. Antoine took 3-27 with the ball, and Beattie made his second hundred of the season (123), with Cooper (88*) providing steel after the early loss of Adu (24). Gloveman Quincy Heskey has already reached 20 catches for the season in only 6 games, with 1 stumping to add to that.

Connells now lead IV.8 by 4 points and with a net run rate of 10.18, clear of Thornley CC who appear to be their main rivals. The inconsistent Young Boys Burn visit the Connells Estates Cricket Ground next Friday, before which the Connells boys have a friendly against Level V's Panthers CC.

Argh! We lost to Young Boys Burn today by eleven runs. They really seem to have the wood on us, despite being fourth with 3 defeats prior to this game they knocked over our top order and we just didn't have enough in the chase. The top order, Adu (115) aside, were abysmal, worse even, with four of them falling for less than ten! Despite brave knocks from Rideegammagedera (51) and Heskey (47), and some tailend resistance, we fell short. Wright also got carted, 10-0-78-2, but at least Midworth did well with 4-47. Antoine went wicketless but he'll come good.

Basically we can still win the league and are still first, but it's tighter than I'd like and we're going to have to play very well to get higher up the promotion table. I'm sure we can do it but it's mighty annoying to lose by 11 runs!

Whoopsie, forgot to post last week's match report, sorry Andy et al!

Without looking again we beat Owzat! by 9 wickets as far as I can remember.

Training has come along nicely of late, Adu is now quality (Antoine and Cooper not far off) and Marsh strong. Acton and Rees are progressing in bowling training, and Acton will probably get a second bowling net in time - maybe when Marsh reaches mediocre stamina, as welll as Rees getting a fielding net (when Murdoch reaches mediocre concentration) for his consistency in bowling and a bit of concentration as he can bat a bit.

I was thinking that we should save up some ITS until the end of the season and have a couple of goes at pulling an all-rounder who can get Adu and Antoine's nets then, what do you think Andy?

Ducks to come this week, let's hope Marsh can remove Daniell early again and give us a chance of keeping the score down, ideally if we bowl first.
