Chudley Cannons vs Connells Estates CC

In progress, with new signing Rob Cooper making his debut at 3, and Tel Donnelly filling a new role as the latest opening partner for Adu:

And that's the end of the match. Chudley Cannons won by 167 runs.

Chudley Cannons 249-8
Connells Estates CC 82-10

I think CHudley has challenged us in patronage (see the main thread), thinking we are easy pickings. How could we disagree after that abomination? We need another batsman as well as a bowler IMO.

Our bowlers must be getting seriously hacked off. They restrict Chudley to an eminently gettable score, only to find the top order collapse quicker than a straw hut in a hurricane! What is wrong with our batsmen? Rob Wright in particular is averaging only 8 this season, despite being a 'strong' batsman. I've put him on 'defensive' for the next game, to hopefully play himself back into form. Rob Cooper out for a duck, Leader out for a golden. It would have been even more embarrasing if Matthew Antoine and Colin Kent hadn't put on a small partnership for the last wicket!

I'm angry - and heads are going to roll in this team. We've got the other teams in our league who've failed to score any points for the next 3 weeks. These are MUST WIN GAMES! We can still stay up if we win these games, but if we don't win at least 2 out of 3, we're going down and there's not much we can do about it!

Andy, I'm going to be prepared to spend big on a batsman, there's a bullet to be bitten. Macey is on good form - let him attack more with his bowling. I think Donnelly opening is good for now, and Cooper will get better - that was his complete battrick debut!

As for Wright being defensive with his batting, let Midworth do that - send him in at three for now and let Cooper bat at 4 or 5 to get his form up. Wright's batting is strong and he will come good.
