I wonder how serious the threat is? Was'nt there a huge battle between the goverment and the radicals a few months ago? Did'nt the goverment go compleatly overboard and be accused of crimes against humanity? Or is this Thailand?

Anyway. It's sad when politics gets in the way of sport like this.

Out of interest, what is it like for an India/Pak team to tour the other?

no doubt a sad news but I think India should tour bangladesh provided the bangladeshi government take full responsipility of security of Indian players .

I remember , in 1999 , I think, Pakistan was scheduled to play in India but an Indian extremist group headed by bal thakarey (i call him wabal thakarey ) threatened Pakistan for coming in India. that group even dug the pitch where Pakistan was to play with India in test match . But Pakistan toured India despite of all these threats . So, India should also tour bangladesh

Indeed it is. Can't say my self how serious and legitimate these threats are, but I never rely on what the popular belief is since there is a tendency amongst the media to blow such things out of proportion. I'm positive the Bangladeshi board, government and the BCCI will sort this out. Hopefully the tour will go ahead as planned.

When Pakistan tour India next Feb, my only concerns would be crowd behaviour, memories of us winning a test match in front of an emtpy Eden Gardens some years back are still fresh in my mind. I don't think I'd like that to happen again. Other wise I'd be least bothered about any threats from any Tom, Dick or Harry - Shiv Sena's disgraceful attempts to cancel our last tour there proved to mere political ramblings with no real substance. With the amount of security that is usually arranged for any sports team now a days it is realitically unlikely that any terrorist or political organiasations can target us or any one else for that mater successfully. I hope we behanve differently from the rest of the other cry babies who made such a big issue out of touring us recently and just go ahead with the tour without much fuss.

It just fake I think. Because I never heard any terrorist group named Harkatul-Jihad in Bangladesh.

And if you talk about the security for the players in Bangladesh, I can tell you an example-
When Pakistan came to Bangladesh to play Asian Test Championship final, I went to the hotel where the players were staying to get their autographs. But security don't allow me to enter the hotel without PASS.

Foreign players got presidential security here. So no problem here I think.

Close Circuit Camera already fitted in Bangabandhu Stadium to asure the security. Dressed Police and undressed Police already placed in the stadium and hotel. So I think it's OK now.

Allegedly.

I am not saying the threat was not received - just the identity or status of this group appears to be a bit of a mystery.

As Maranello has said above :

or even a mobile phone will do I guess!

Anyone can claim affiliation to a Terrorist group and I somehow don't see terrorist groups denying claims from another lunatic if it suits their purpose.

The Indian Security delegation has cleared the Dhaka leg of the tour and should do so for Chittagong as well. So how serious was the threat? It did'nt take them long to Ok the starting leg.
