The best thing to do is play of the backfoot and as much with the bat as possible. And don't play away from your body because it might result in edges.

Another thing you should do is to play with the spin and not against it.

If you're going to play back then play well back. Otherwise get forward and make sure you go right forward. Defensively this will enable you to smother the spin. Hit down the ground rather than trying to work the ball square all the time. The occasional sweep does put the bowler off his line and length a bit though. Leave the reverse sweep to the pros!

One thing I like to do is get to the pitch of the ball by coming down the track a bit..try it once or twice it may put the bowler off and it might cause him to bowl a bit short and that gives you the chance to free your arms and smack it out of the park somewhere...

Im an off spinner and the main way that i get wickets is when people play against the spin. Try and play with the the spin as much as you can. If you play against the spin then theres a high chance your going to edge the ball to a fielder.Thats what the opposition will be hoping.

Also if the balls just short of a length then dont just try to smash the ball away. Just find a gap and play the ball into it. Thats how I deal lwith playin hem.

Hope that helps.

Firstly don't try to smash the spinners all the time. Im a leg spinner and there is nothing better than a batsman trying to smash you out of the ground every ball. Secondly when playing forward use soft hands and smother the ball when playing defensivly. Thirdly when dancing down the wicket wait for the ball to be released from the bowlers hand otherwise your in a bit of trouble because it allows the bowler to change his delivery, and when dancing don't lift your head it will cause you to miss the ball and get stumped. simple things, which do work. But the main thing is practice. No advice through the internet will help you greatly to need to work things out for yourself. Patience is also very important just wait for the bad ball, 99% of spinner bowl at least bowl one bad ball every couple of overs and if things are tight and your not playing the bowler well, you should be patient and when the bad ball comes and then you can put it away.
