You've lost me here completely, Rachael. If you run one short
deliberately, the only way you can get any score from it is by deceiving the umpire into thinking you did it accidentally. Deceit, either by dropping 6 inches short or by some other means, is essential - and, apart from just not being a very nice way of behaving, it's almost certainly not within the Spirit of Cricket. As soon as the umpire thinks you did it deliberately, you are knackered as the Law says that all runs from that delivery are disregarded and the batsmen are returned to their original ends. You also get a warning for your whole team and for the remainder of the innings.
