Cricket Bats

Anyone ever played with/seen a bat made by these guys?

http://http://www.laverwood.co.nz/html/index.htm

They look pretty damn nice, but I'm not sure whether to spend all that money or not.

I would loveeeeeeeeee the "signature" bat, but thats a hugeeee £700.

Undecided between the other 2.

They are nice bats to be sure - however they are expensive and rarely actually sold in this country. Personally, I think you can get just as nice a bat from Salix for a few quid less, Bradbury (stocked by Romida Sports I think) which I have used in the past an are very good - or you might want to search the web for a guy called Charlie French. I used and sold his bats once and they were fantastic. Many guys in my club used his basic level bat for a couple of seasons and scored plenty, plenty runs!

i open for my team here in karachi/pak and would seriously recommend the gray nichols gladius pro titanium to anyone who faces the new ball and loves a bat which is light and excellent for timed shots rather than slogging. The bat you have mentioned signature series looks good but IMO is quite expensive, depends on you though but the bat i use the gray nichols gladius pro titanium is available for around 176 pounds and i would suggest that you actually go in a sports shop and take the bat in yr hand before buying it rather than buying it online, it has to feel good in yr hand.

Oh no Mr Hutt! That's all we need - proper batsman giving advice on bats. I was with your post until the word 'slogging', I suppose you're one of these chaps who believes in playing straight are you?

hahaha no i said that because some bats are better for hitting out "larger sweet spot and heavier" while some are good for timing " more centered sweet spot and light weight" i just prefer the second kind cause i open and the balls hard and fast, so timing works more, im not against hitting out.. do it by all means just use a different bat for it.
I believe in playing the ball to its merit.. straight or otherwise.. my fave shot is running it down to third man right at the start. Im not one for pre meditated shots though just play it as i get it.

Phew, that's a relief! Mind you, I'm currently using a £25 bat from Pakistan, called a 'Top Banana' and it does the job pretty well!

I just bought a new bat its a Gray Nicholls Fusion players. It set me back $650 AUS. Worth every cent, it has a carbon fibre handle and it is 2.9½ but it feels a quarter of the weight, it is a huge profile. Used by Hayden and Cosgrove.
