Pre-Match Build Up

With both of these teams on top form after beating respectable teams such as England and India we are in for a cracking semi final. The pitch looks excellent for batting so be prepared for some high scores possibly even 300+! All that we know is that the match will be very exciting. Now we go live over to Michael Slater for and interview with Australian captain Ricky Ponting:

MS: Hello Ricky. What are you're feelings coming into this match?

RP: Well, I am very excited and very hopeful of a victory, as you can see it is a very good batting pitch and we want to bat first and put up an unchasable score.

MS: What do you think of the Pakistani lineup?

RP: I think its very strong - especially in the one day department - we have done alot of homework on their team and are very excited at the prospect of playing this wonderful team.

MS: Who do you think will win?

RP: Well, I hope to win, obviously, and I think we may just have the class to get the better of them.

MS: Good luck Ricky.

RP: Thanks.

MS: Now back to the studio.

(do you guys like these interviews - if you do, should there be more of them.)

Commentary And Scorecards

The problem has now been fixed!! Go and visit the commentary - its good! - at www.freewebs.com/watcricsim - then click on the link to the 1st semi final!

Also take a look at the scorecards - please remember that to have them aligned properly then you will need to change the font to Courier New or Lucida Console. Thanks.

A high-scoring affair on an excellent batting wicket saw both teams score in excess of 300 runs. Once again, Australia's middle-order run machine Zainub came to the fore in a magic 160 run partnership off 116 balls with opener Langer. But Pakistan's consistent bowler Andy Mellon broke the partnership and slowed Australia's momentum by snaring both prize wickets. Australia still managed to bat out the 50 overs and set Pakistan a formidable target of 315 to win. The Australian bowlers struggled to contain the Pakistan run-rate as I expected. When Notts Exile joined Oliver in a blistering 113 run partnership off 87 balls they cruised to victory with nearly four overs to spare. Pakistan are looking good for the final now with so many in-form batsmen.

Although Man of the Match was a difficult choice I thought Notts Exile's withering burst of aggressive shots was simply awesome to behold.

What a great match

I gave Justin Langer the MOM vote because his innings was simply top class. Shame he missed out on a ton.

I thought Gilchrist played an important role in giving the australians a boost and finishing not out.

Pakistan bettered that though. Well played them
