Group A Matches

V

AUSTRALIA v INDIA @ MCG:

Australia (445 & 169/2) beat India (177 & 436) by 8 wickets.

The Indians have lost their first match of the Pepsi Test Series with a crushing defeat at the hands of the Australians. Australia's huge first innings really set the tone of the match and India were forced to follow on after batting desperately badly in the first innings.

Man Of The Match: Justin Langer

V

NEW ZEALAND v WEST INDIES @ Auckland:

West Indies (482 & 266/7) beat New Zealand (376 & 369) by 3 wickets.

A spirited first innings from New Zealand set the tone in a close encounter between the bottom two teams of the group. The West Indies responded with a very large score featuring a marvellous century from Shiv Chanderpaul! The New Zealanders struggled to match the West Indian super batting - however, they were close to getting the victory as their bowling in the 4th innings was very good.

Man Of The Match: Shivnarine Chanderpaul

Send a message via Yahoo to rineet
West Indies have been winning ever since rineet has been included in their playing eleven. Whom are the Windies playing next?

Group B Matches

V

ENGLAND v SOUTH AFRICA @ Lord's:

England (193 & 320) beat South Africa (168 & 331) by 14 runs.

England, after being put into bat made heavy work of batting and collapsed to just 193 all out - with no-one crossing the 50 mark. South Africa followed that up with an even more dire performance of 168 all out, they were saved from plummeting below 150 by Mark Boucher's brilliant 80. The batting was much better in the second innings for both teams with great performances from Geriant Jones (85) and Lemming (90). South Africa came so close to an unexpected victory in the end, but the English bowlers just kept them out.

Man Of The Match: admin

PAKISTAN v SRI LANKA @ Lahore:

Pakistan (532) beat Sri Lanka (257 & 203) by an innings and 72 runs.

The Pakistanis seem to have finally relayed their excellent one day form into the longer form of the game. They batted a brilliant first innings with a century from greg and a double century from Notts Exile. The Sri Lankans struggled right from the offset with half centuries from arsalan660 and sanizan in both of the Lankan innings. After being forced to follow on, there was no hope of a Sri Lanka victory.

Man Of The Match: Notts Exile
