| Group A Matches V ![]() NEW ZEALAND v INDIA @ Auckland: New Zealand (316 & 97/1) beat India (188 & 224) by 9 wickets. New Zealand have grabbed a consolation win over the Indians in the final group match for the two teams. This result has not affected India's chances of progression but has buoyed the dismal mood in the New Zealand camp. They should be happy with the great bowling performance to dismiss the Indians for 188 in the first innings featuring a brillant 5-40 from Daniel Vettori, their batting was alot better than the Indians and they can look forward to the 25 Over Cup and the next season of CricSim. Man Of The Match: Daniel Vettori V ![]() WEST INDIES v AUSTRALIA @ Sabina Park: West Indies (347 & 429/4d) beat Australia (310 & 262) by 204 runs. The West Indies have recorded an emphatic victory to bring the second semi final place in group a down to a decider. They batted very well in this match, especially Chris Gayle (119 & 212). Also bowling well to contain the Australians and take a victory which could see them through to the semifinals. Man Of The Match: Chris Gayle Check the scorecards to see how YOU did! Group A Second Place - Australia or West Indies: This will first be decided on wins - if the West Indies have beaten Australia twice, they will go through. In the first test between the two, Australia won by 9 wickets, and in the second, West Indies won by 204 runs. Instead, it will be decided on 'runs difference' this is like 'goal difference' in football. Australia's run difference was -205 wheras West Indies was +208. This puts the West Indies through in second place and knocks Australia out! Group A Final Table: 1.INDIA - 8pts (Group Winners) 2.WEST INDIES - 6pts (go through on higher run difference) 3. AUSTRALIA - 6pts 4. NEW ZEALAND - 4pts |

| Group B Matches V ![]() PAKISTAN v SOUTH AFRICA @ Lahore: Pakistan (500 & 46/0) beat South Africa (294 & 249) by 10 wickets. Pakistan confirmed a semifinal place after defeating South Africa at home. A great first innings set the tone for the match as Pakistan, through Salman Butt (145) and Mohammad Yousuf (116no), scored a massive 500 all out. An all round bowling performance from the Pakistani's forced South Africa to follow on, still 206 runs behind. For a while, it looked like Pakistan could win by an innings but South Africa managed to overcome the 206 but leave Pakistan just a mere target to chase to go through to the semis. Man Of The Match: Salman Butt V ![]() SRI LANKA v ENGLAND @ Colombo: England (226 & 302) beat Sri Lanka (232 & 238) by 58 runs. In a match where everybody's scores were similar, the English came out on top to book their place in the semis. After a poor first innings from both teams, it was a second innings match. And this is where England took the initiative - through Andrew Strauss (119), England piled a score of 300+ to leave the Lankans needing too much than they could handle to prevent England from finding the easy route into the semi's. A brilliant 6-83 from Kirsty Harris spoilt Sri Lanka's day and their season as they flopped once again. Man Of The Match: Andrew Strauss Check out the scorecards to find out how YOU did! Group Winners And Group Runners-up: Pakistan or England: Firstly, we will see if anybody has defeated their opponents on both occasions. Once again, they both beat each other so we have to go into 'runs difference'. Pakistan have a great runs difference of +9. However, England, who scored the same amount of runs as Pakistan, go through as winners as they have a runs difference of +47. GROUP B FINAL TABLE: ENGLAND - 8pts (go through as group winners on runs difference) PAKISTAN - 8pts (go through as runners up on runs difference) SOUTH AFRICA - 6pts SRI LANKA - 2pts Last edited by w3lshrugby : 19-02-2006 at 08:08 PM. |
