Group A Matches

V

NEW ZEALAND v INDIA @ Auckland:

India (339/6) beat New Zealand (330/5) by 9 runs.

India managed to win a must win game for them - just! After deciding to bat first on a poor pitch, the Indians set up a huge target of 339/6 for New Zealand to chase. India looked in firm control of the match, however, the New Zealand batsmen almost proved them wrong and could've caused one of the tournaments biggest upsets. However, India must rely on the result in the next game going their way.

Man Of The Match: G Gambhir

V

WEST INDIES v AUSTRALIA @ Sabina Park:

Australia (255) beat West Indies (197) by 58 runs.

A great bowling performance from the Australians, in particular, Brett Lee (4-42), gave them an unexpected victory after being bowled out themselves cheaply. Once again, Justin Langer provided the Aussies with a solid start after blasting 75 from 60. The West Indies never looked decent enough to chase the small target and have now let India in with a chance of taking their semi final spot.

Man Of The Match: Brett Lee

Runners-up of Group A: West Indies or India:

Firstly, we will see whether either of the teams has won both of their matches against the opponent.

Once again, they both beat each other once, so we must go into runs difference.

West Indies ended with a runs difference of -206 wheras India ended with a difference of +121 so they go through in second place!

GROUP A FINAL TABLE:
AUSTRALIA - 10pts (Group Winners)
INDIA - 6pts (Runners-up on runs difference)
WEST INDIES - 6pts
NEW ZEALAND - 2pts

Group B Matches

V

PAKISTAN v SOUTH AFRICA @ Lahore:

Pakistan (422/5) beat South Africa (302/9) by 120 runs.

Pakistan continue their unbeaten run to 9 games now as they scored the highest one day score of the season at Lahore today. 5 of the 7 who batted crossed the half century mark, with Younis Khan getting a century. He ended on 118 off 76 balls as Pakistan crushed the South African bowling attack to confirm them as mega-favourites for the one day competition. South Africa did well in response, themselves crossing the 300 mark, which would be great in the normal one day game!

Man Of The Match: Younis Khan

V

SRI LANKA v ENGLAND @ Colombo:

Sri Lanka (352/4) beat England (254) by 98 runs.

Sri Lanka earnt their place in the semi finals with an emphatic win over the English in Colombo. The Sri Lankan innings had 4 out of the 6 batsmen making half centuries, of which one, arsalan660's, was converted into a century. There was no way that England were going to chase this and brilliant bowling from Muralithuran and Maharoof ended England's hopes of a semi final place.

Man Of The Match: arsalan660

Check out the scorecards to see how YOU did!

This is the only group that hasn't had to have some sort of sorting method to choose between teams on equal points.

GROUP B FINAL TABLE:
PAKISTAN - 12pts (Group Winners - easily)
SRI LANKA - 6pts (Runners-up)
ENGLAND - 4pts
SOUTH AFRICA - 2pts
