Good Morning to all,

Just like to pick up on this point Richie, as I was listening to Mark Nicholas on Talk Sport and he commented on how Read was more of an improviser. Interesting point I thought. Personally I think he can contribute some useful runs late in the innings and he is certainly capable of saving a few with his excellent govesmanship.

Mike, being able to improvise is what the one day game is about. Pity that he couldn't convert it into Test runs the way Alan Knott did. A lot of his scores were obtained by driving bowlers to distraction with unorthodox shots. Maybe then the Test/ODI split will be good for the team in general.

Seems to me that a lot of the best specialist keepers tend to have unorthodox batting approachs, wonder if it's something to do with the excentricity involved in being a good keeper, perhaps we'll soon see Read out on the boundary rope with his water colours

Good I hope not. If he starting wearing a crappy sun hat and going on about baked beans, or even worse grow dodgey facial hair he should be dropped from everything.
