I don't think that would ever happen, although I think all the players you have mentioned are world class performers, and I can't think of many selectors who would have refused to have either of them in their teams. I'm not voting because I think this is far far too much of hypothetical question. Last edited by Zainub : 21-11-2004 at 10:00 AM.

MURI would be the choice for me and the one which would make the most sense. First of all with MURI they would win the ashes. I see lads chose Gilchrist ?..why ?..they already have a goodish keep and the guy can bat as well. would Gillchrist win ENGLAND the ashes ??...NO...will MURi...YES

Oh let me back track here a moment. I gave MURI the nod because The australians CANNOT PLAY good OFF SPIN ..and Iam pretty sure that they have been groomed well on the leg spinner. So i made my pick with the ashes series in mind and that is the next major series on England's callender.

Australians cannot play good off spin? Aparently they became the first team in test cricket history to white wash Sri Lanka on home soil (winning 3-0) when the world's best (argubly) off spinner was playing for the home side on pitches that turned a mile from day 1, ball 1. ...Sure Don, of coarse they can't play good off spin, that's why they won against a Sri Lanka having Murali in SriLanka, you're absolutely spot on. Australia can play good off spin, they played Harbajjan well in India just recently, and even despite him taking wickets, by and large their batting order looked comfortable against him. Even in Sri Lanka, even though Murali ended up with good returns my personal view was that the Aussies read him very well. And consequently played him well too. Those wickets he gots were at time accumilated when most of the incentive was lost. I'm not taking any credit away from Murali, but to say Australia can't play off spin, I don't think that's true.

you compare harbajan to MURI ?... Last edited by admin : 21-11-2004 at 08:56 PM. Reason: No need to quote the previous post.

I surrender Don. You win. You're not getting the point, I'm fighting a lost battle. Last edited by Zainub : 21-11-2004 at 04:14 PM.
