Morgan should go now

Simple question who thinks that touring Zimbabwe should result in the removal of Morgan as Chairman of the ECB...

I would love to hear your view, maybe then we can write a letter to the ECB detailing the views of grass-roots fans...

Hey GW,

Any chance of saying why you think he should still be there?

I am on your side ff, but if they bothered to read it at all, the tour would have finished and long gone.

Question, A lot of posters would not like to see Ian Botham having anything to do with the England set up, who would like to see him in Morgans place right now, he would not be inactive.

Botham - no.

I would like to see Mike Soper in charge, but he knows that his style would no go down well with the County Boards, they want a puppet, not a man of action.

Unfortunatly, beacuse Morgan is a puppet he is being easily used by much stronger people in the ICC.

I am astounded that Morgan has now gone to Zimbabwe not to tell the ZCU that the tour cannot go ahead, but instead to try to negotiate to get the press permission. Craziness, having said that with his ability as a hard negaotiator, he will probably get the remaining press banned as well...

I agree that this entire sorry episode has exposed the severe limitations of Morgan's leadership. However, I am just not sure that now is the time for the ECB to start tearing itself apart - who would deal with the situation in his absence (I know lots of people would suggest a power vacuum would be better than Morgan though)? Would an interim appointee have any real authority?

I also don't see the real difference it would make to the current situation. The removal of Morgan would not alter the stance of the ECB.

The best approach would be for the other stakeholders in the ECB to tell the board in no uncertain terms that the tour should be called off. When this has happened Morgan should be relieved of his duties and there should be a thorough investigation of this fiasco and measures put in place to ensure that it does not happen again.
