Hi Guys - I'm Michael Dengler - for those who joined today. I got a surge of new membership notifications this afternoon and discovered why when I logged on to the BBC board. I haven't been following events on that board for a couple of weeks now so I didn't see it coming but, please don't act too hastily. This board was setup to compliment the BBC board - not to replace it. At times the BBC board gets slow or closes inconveniently early, if that happens you have another option to post on this board. If other posters harrass you off the BBC board then, I guess, that's a different matter. But there are a lot of people on the BBC board who will be the unfortunate losers if you leave for good. Think of them. Meanwhile, enjoy the more sedate atmosphere here.

Be assured that I will act to make this board a pleasant place to post. I have no problem with you posting links. We like to be informed of interesting sites. I've even allowed a couple of instances of people promoting their own sites because it is in our interest to be kept informed of useful sites.

There is a forum for each nationality which should make it unnecessary for other nationalities to visit the England board unless they wish to discuss a match in which their team is playing England. General discussion on World cricket is better placed on the Men's Cricket forum unless you particularly want an English response.

Cool Exodus - movement of the people

Thanks for the warm welcome Micheal.

The level of debate was as lively as ever on the BBC.
I think there are a few reasons for the exodus (thanks for the heads up play Notts Exile).
  • The house rules - no URLs or long quotes from reference sources.
  • Over/Under zealous moderators.
  • Windup merchants.
  • Non England related posts.
  • Asinine comments from the Hosts.
  • Poor functionality of the board.
I have been checking out the caribbeancricket forum during the current series against the WI and I'd like a 'home' for England like they have - maybe this is it?

Hi RWS, you can see that the board is setup to be a global cricket discussion forum. Reason is that I never thought the BBC International board worked. On this board is a forum for each country. The idea you mentioned of a "home" to post to is important because the interplay of the various personalities can be a magnet which keeps drawing you back. When the forum is buzzing the last thing you need is a clown to come in and spoil it.

With that in mind I'll be firm in my endeavour to give everyone a "home" they can post to without anyone from other nationalities coming in and spoiling it.

Most of us, I think, just want somewhere where we can discuss the game we love with serious fans without been harassed. If this MB manages that we'll be happy.

Cool

As long as you have England in your heart, that's all that matters to me

Mark, we did have an issue with a chap called Vinoth in this forum. I think there was not enough action on the India board so he began posting all around the place but as the England forum grew he started posting messages on this forum which annoyed the folk here. He wasn't a bad chap - just didn't realize he was being discourteous to the English folk here.

Did Clive actually resign? I missed that post, or the mods deleted it. I do remember getting a lot of what I thought was very unfair stick for suggesting that Ganguly wasn't the greatest captain alive.

Cool

A whole bunch off the south asian board came over after his Ganguly comments and laid into him. He complained to the host/mods but got no joy so he threw a wobbler. The asian subcontinent cheerleaders started dancing on his grave with 'good riddance' posts which particuarly offended me.
