Smile Just how fast is BBC message board going down hill (19&20/04/04)

I've just read a rather angry post from an exasperated Clive Wilshin on the "other side" and tried to advise to jion here before the post gets removed. The last few weeks has been dreadful over there with pom-basher form aus and pretty much evrywhere else with little or no moderation. Vinoth has been banned form this one, which in one sense is a shame because he wasnt always shocking, but good in another way a precident has been set. if the same rules were to apply on the beeb the members would be down by half.

Obviously if you could advertise another site it may well be empty.

Good to see it hasnt gone the same way here, despite the subject moving away from cricket on occaision.

You're not wrong. Mark Kidger has just announced he's off elsewhere. Not sure if there will be anyone left soon, like the Marie-Celeste already!

It's hasn't been the same on the BBC site for some time. Both Farmer and Saqlain Giles seem to have disappeared and Goatman and RDT don't seem to post half as much as they used to. The England board used to contain some interesting discussions but now seems to have gone the same way as the old International/new South Asian board - hundreds of pointless threads and only a few meaningful discussions.

I'm waiting now for Darren Cook and Mark to join us. Get the feeling a few more may move too. This board can't be any worse than the other, just needs more input.

Hopefully we'll get some constructive stuff rather than idiots telling us that Dravid and Trescothick are good enough to keep in Test Matches.

(Some of us still won't change our minds about Read though!)

Wouldnt have it any other way. Read and blackwell - what a combo !

Has anyone tried the chat room here yet ? It would make a change to go into one without being asked "if I wanna cyba" by some bored teenager.

I've already joined you and been greeted by Michael Dengler, who is an administrator here.

For what it's worth, Helen (BBC Host) is saying that she is going to investigate and that new software is being introduced to stop abuses. I'm afraid though that if this MB is up to anything I will not be going back. I seem to have stirred up a nice hornets nest there - 37 replies already in the thread about my resignation. Now we can just wait for a jubilant response from Sundaram to my post...
