Spot on. It really is a case of horses for courses. At the time there was nothing wrong with Ealham as a One-Day bowler. Now we have a situation where Freddie is a better bowler than Harmison - as a ODI bowler. Maybe Harmi will learn, he certainly hasn't played much limited over stuff for Durham! As for Pietersen's bowling ..... he needs to practice, it was good when he camne over in 2001, it's gone downhill since. He used to do a very good containing job.

Wasnt the hoo-haa with gallien down to the fact he wasnt used enough as a bowler ? As they've kissed and made up perhaps he'll bowl more which may help the england cause. Obviously wont t do notts any good if he's crap but you cant have everything !

Was certainly part of it. He also though the crap pitches at Trent Bridge stopped him from scoring lots of runs (I'd love to see him on good pitches!). There was also other stuff, some of which led to Usman Afzaal leaving (allegedly) and I reckon also resulted in Shafayat's desperate form.

He was always trying to bowl 100mph, and reaching around 95-96 within a 30degree arc. He has now dropped back to 89-91mph within a tighter line. He needs to learn the tricks of one day bowling from Freddy and Gough and he could be very usefull. Of course it will depend on the conditions, on an overcast seamer, Butch/Tres and Collingwood could be very usefull, I think Vaughan missed a trick in Guyana by not using the spinners when Chanderpaul got going. The wicket was slow and not coming on to the bat, a bit of flight and drift could have caused a lot of trouble.

Well from a purely personnal point of view I hope that the political infighting in the Notts dressing room is as bad as ever, we play them in the CC starting Wednesday and we are missing half a team for one reason or another, so we need some advantage Our best chance at the moment is if Pieterson runs in to bowl, plucks a stump out of the ground and chases his Captain off the ground...

Unfortunately things are looking quite good. KP is in fine fettle and Hussey made a nice ton on his debut (albeit against the students). MacGill thinks he's got a point to prove this season after last year and there are a few batsmen there who didn't quite perform last year. The bowling's not bad: Schreck's quite a scary sight!

This should be iinteresting then, can't see the Durham pitch being set up to spin, with our relative lack of spinners, but don't expect the kids to be worried by Shreck (half of them probably went to see it with thier parents or got it as a present at Xmas After all they face Harmison, Shoaib and Plunkett in the nets, if anyone is likely to look green and swollen it will be the Durham batsmen after net practice

o.k fine, peng needs to do some work but carberry is good, very good. he's got something about him which looks international, bopara looks oriental (like tendulker)
| |||
don't think carbs is good enough for international recognition yet. he is certainly in the process of converting his potential into a real contribution (as demonstrated vs Gloucs yesterday) but the likes of bell, troughton, strauss and collingwood are well above him in the pecking order. could be one for the future though.
