Hi Don and Rachael,

I've turned on the Quick Reply function. Click the icon next to reply to jump down to the message window. Does this make it easier to post?

it looks good...I use the browser opera and it allows me to get rid of all the image functions etc and it makes high graphic pages load faster...I like this site / Iam currently dowloading and it's so smooth here that I forget that i was surfing here on limited bandwith..lol

Don, I notice that you have the Enhanced (WYSIWYG) selected for your message editor. If you don't need all the bells and whistles go to your User CP and Edit Options -- Miscellaneous Options -- Then select Basic Editor - a simple text box from the drop-down menu. Make sure to click Save at the bottom to save the new settings.

Yes: I think that's better. Still hard to assess what's going on until there are more people contributing: I'm used to "latest messages" showing a list of posts irrespective of thread... hope this system is as easy.

Your right, Rachael, that there is nothing like Latest Messages here. Latest Messages showed all the recent posts opened up. I thought LMs had problems - no link to the original thread, slow loading. It would be better to list the posts rather than have them all open. Have you got the hang of New Posts on the top menu?

I don't know what page I was on by by fiddling with settings I did seem to have a "latest messages" thing... might have just been latest ones ones in a single thread.

At the top of the page is a link called New Posts. The forum will automatically detect if you have not been active for more than 15 mins. It will then clear the New Posts as though you had used Mark All Forums Read to reset the icons against the the forums which contain new posts. On the home page you see the forum view, Down the left side are icons that look like ticks. Some ticks are dark and some are light. The dark ones show that no new posts have been added to that forum. The light ones show new posts. Down the bottom of that page is Mark All Forums Read. Click that make all the icons to go dark and will also clear the New Posts view. This is good if you leave the PC on but leave to make a cuppa. When you leave, click Mark All Forums Read and when you get back you will see new posts posted while you were away.
