| Cricinfo suggests the bats are offering the edge a bit and not looking comfortable - can anyone watch confirm or deny?

| Hoggard is inspired - he is beating the bat with a drifting ball to the right hander and could of had a wicket with his fourth ball as well - Thorpe under the helmet at short leg (the only fielder in front of square on the leg side) dropped a sharp chance (very difficult) given by the reindeer. Harmison is bowling short and wide but it begining to get it together - he is having trouble getting his length right particuarly to the left hander (nothing new there). The wicket was heavily watered yesterday and the ball is not getting up much higher than hiphigh from GBH. Try www.cricbuzz.com for more ball-by-ball to get a different perspective. (when they start it!)

| Apart from that first Grievous over, looks like a damn good spell from the lads brewing!

| Don't know why the Poms insist on wasting the new ball with Harmison. Surly they could use somebody with a bit more accuracy in the first spell.

| You dont half talk a load of twaddle Beny . . . Check out the stats for the lasst eleven tests. . . . GBH is short of bowling since September and will get better as the series develops - or are you suggesting we use the worlds number 1 as first change? How about the new ball effort from Grandad Glen today? try http://cricketscore.planetfootball.com/ for Skys ball-by-ball

| What about Grandad Glenn? He also had about two catches dropped off him an his only bad bowls were against left handers for the first few overs. He still did not concede that many. Every time I have seen Harmison bowl, like Shoaib yesterday, he bowls wide and short. That is an absolute waste of a good new bowl. Bring Harmison in later to the attack and let somebody who can get the line and length right straight away. BTW Glenn just got a wicket and its only about the 6 or 7th that has been a chance.

| The Saffers are getting off to a decent start now, a few drives going in the air through the covers as they try and dominate. Hoggard should be switched to the other end to help his outswing. Wont be long before we see Fred. Cruella looks a decent bat and is playing +vly in his first test.
