SP Jones? Why the........

As for Harmison, only a bumbling idiot would claim he's the finished product - or claim that the fact that he isn't the finished product yet makes him ordinary.

At some point this series, he'll hit his straps and knock them over. Consistency comes with experience.

And as for Shaoib, I had the impression that AUS's much vaunted top order had had rather as lot of difficulty playing his short wide ones yesterday......

The pitch is slow is it? That's strange? Lots of swing though?

No not really... He was'nt even bowling that fast. Sami bowled better in my oppinion. Aktar took wickets on the occasion he got it on line but the other stuff failed to keep the preassure on and so we managed to break away and score a decent total. For you who arnt following, we just bowled Pak out for about 180.

Get with the programme young man - the pitch was heavily watered by the SA groundsman on Jennings instructions in order to negate the England pace attack. There is quite a strong wind blowing early (the bails have been blown off twice - cue jokes about using heavy bails) and that should dry the wicket out - but fair dos to the new guy, he is playing without fear and tonking it (sometimes with thick edges) to all parts.

Pitch is slow, they flooded it the other day to stop us from killing them :-)

There may be swing but Hoggard is bowling at the wrong end. Perhaps the theory was to get the batsmen to play for swing and edge his second ball to third slip! Hoggy will bowl from the other end soon methinks.

Dale Styne is there. Apparantly the fastest bowler in SA and Nitini loves the bouce. Ohh well. Happy to see Styne in there and De Villers playing well.

I've just been informed that this is the smallest test ground in SA - contributing consiedrably to the value the bats are getting for their strokes. Oh yeah and Grevious is crap btw. .

I'm impressed. They've managed to remove a team that has gone to pieces so fast in the last 6 innings they have played that several close fielders have needed to be treated for shrapnel injuries for almost exactly the same score as AUS would have made had thier one performing batsman not been dropped on 13 by a typically substandard Asian wicket-keeper.

Truely a performance to be proud of.
