Simon Jones turned this one lads/lasses, Ok Strauss is a dashing young hero etc etc but its the bowlers that win the matches. 5 for 78. . come on that better than 220 odd runs.

Boycott after the 1st Innings was questioning his place in the team, and yet he turned the match... I think though he bowled to a plan inthe second innings, to pitch the ball up an bolw straight. I think if he can keep on doing that and work harder on getting the reverse swing he will compliment the back-off-a-length bowlers we have in Harmy and Freddie and swing of Hoggy. Anderson may need a bit of luck to get back in again, which is a shame...

without Strauss' contribution we would most likely have lost the game.

Simon Jones back to form, made it possible for Strauss to perform the heroics he did, so for me it is Simon Jone, just a head of Strauss, with honerable mention to Giles.

The fact is, this was a team effort, everyone nearly made contributions, this bodes well for the future.

Jones = A N Other, the poll instructs you to state who??,

And I think Jones contribution, was a winning one, it gave our batsmen an easier target to get.

No one in the first XI is under threat - only under competition for theri place - which is as it should be.

As for Boycott, well I think I've made my feelings known about this dinosaur.

A point that came out of the radio commentary was that during the Saffers 2nd innings, after Jones had taken three wickets, he was warned about running on the pitch. With his straight run up and close to the wicket delivery stride he will need Troy C's help or risk being taken out of the attack.

I can see a time in the future when Jones takes the new ball with GBH.
