Have you tried Cricket 2004? Not sure it is that great an improvement on what has gone before to be honest, though the makers have solved England's spinning crisis by converting Crofty into a leggie! |

| [Somebody remarked (I can't remember who) that Kim Barnett was really the man for the job, but he didn't have the right name...perhaps if he'd been called Cowdrey or Compton or something, he'd've got the job.[/quote] Cowdrey was never test class, but niehter was Barnett to tell the truth. Cowdrey did at least have some pretensions of being an all-rounder... |

| I reckon Gavin Hamilton may have been the worst of all the allrounders to play for England. He got picked after some decent performances for Scotland in the world cup where he was the best of a very bad lot and some ok performances for Yorkshire that season. In reality what he was was a lower order slogger in county cricket who bowled fast medium badly. He always bowled a lot of wides. He got a pair against SA and no wickets and never played again. He has subsequently gotten the yips and his bowling has become even worse and more erratic. Think he moved to Durham or someone this season. Not too sure. Anyway, any candidates for worse than Hamilton? |

Add Senna to that list.... But responding to the topic, allrounders in today's cricket hardly last more than 5 years. Cairns, Pollock, Razzaq and many others have gone bad in one department and are trying to make it up with the other department. Perhaps the amount of cricket being played is the reason. I think all teams should start looking at specialists....batters who can turn their arm over reasonably, not so good to be called as an allrounder and bowlers who can wield the willow but not so well to be termed as allrounders.... Australia and to a lesser extent,India, are succeeding because of it. |
