Dominic Cork rubs me up the wrong way! Don't think I'm the only one there.

Mind you, now I've said that about Boycott, I do remember one funny aside he made commentating. When England were playing Austraila in the days of the 'Philip Tufnell feilding academy', someone asked Boycott where he'd have Tufnell feilding... and he replied 'in the dressing room'!!! For some reason that still makes me smile now!!! Still hate the guy, though!

I'm glad I never heard Kerry doing Eminem...or M&M as I always think of him!! It sounds very bad indeed!!

Yes, but that's his aim in life!! Cork likes nothing better than to irritate the 'bleep' out of people, especially when he's playing!

Fraser isn't too bad. Didn't used to mind Gower, but now he seems to have reverted into "things were better in my day" mode, which afflicts all ex-players. Benaud is the best. I remember him saying "the tension is unbearable. but somehow they're bearing it". Great guy.

At least ex-cricketers aren't as bad as ex-footballers. There's been a lot said about Ron Atkinson in the past few weeks, but it always baffled me how he ever got a TV contract in the first place, he was such a poor commentator. Not only that, but the Guardian, a supposed serious, broadsheet paper, gave him a column! I think by the end there was an element of kitsch in it, but it was still ridiculous. There is no-one that bad in cricket, yet.

I love Fraser - both as a player and a columnist. He has some good points to make, and makes them in a reasoned way. As a player, he was a real fav of mine - if only his hips/back had been stronger, I think that he would have been one of the leading wicket takers of all time!

Kirsty,

O'Keefe was a nightmare...literally so, because I'd listen to his commentary at night, it being the Ashes series, and set my alarm throughout the night for regular updates, so I had him infesting my dreams! Argh! He had this awful laugh, and seemed to spend more time talking about "how I met Mick Jagger" and "Beautiful women I have seen" than cricket.

Poor you!!! How did you stand it? It sounds like a nightmare!! When the Ashes are on, I usually go to bed really early, then get up when play starts and stay up all night!! But if I had to listen to that guy, I'm not sure even I could stand it!!

I agree that Fraser would have been England's highest wicket taker, not necessaarily the highest ever in the world, but up there. He hated giving runs away with a vengeance. i think only Ambrose and McGrtah hated it more. What's more he wouldn't put up with those drops at slip, he's give em some unlike Freddy.

a trundler (or should i leave that sort of comment for don)

i liked him as both - his "reporting" occassionally whiffs of envy (his views on tuffers) - but iīd turn the radio on while heīs at the mic. and he was always a good slave to englandīs causes
