True, I once asked him for an autograph when Surrey were playing Derby. He politely asked me to go elsewhere!!! I wished he had signed for some other team. Lancs are too nice a club for him.

Gus Fraser had some serious pace when he was young. It's sad when people like him and Tudor suffer injuries and whatever. At least no-one can say he didn't make the most of what god gave him, unlike some.

I won't go naming names but I think people can have a fair guess. If you're an England fan, I think Athers is a hero.

iīm "better days" and iīm only messin.

iīm not a huge athers fan though - that partīs true - you have to be a england fan or a knowlegable cricket fan to love athers.

i donīt exactly dislike him and heīs said some memorable things - his "life is as good as the book heīs reading" - that appeals

Oh hi there BD! This place is really catching on. All you quality posters are arriving. I appreciate Athers for the way he refused to buckle to the press demands for a captain who would write their articles for them. Apart from that he averaged near damn on 40 against the new ball.

thatīs a decent ave for sure - itīs a pet hate without logic. i think it was his attepmt to show no emotion when being snarled at by afast bowler - he always just looked gormless (sp?)

iīve been on this board a while - waiting for you to be on at the same time - most of my posting is on the zim board - troubled times

I think his gormlessness was because he perhaps knew he'd gloved one to the keeper shortly before ;-)

Troubled times indeed for Zim but where there's Taibu there's hope. I noticed Brendon Taylor got a game at last, not the best time to make your debut. He hasn't made any runs but how's he kept?
