I notice that the poll at the beginning of this message closes on the 1st June. Isn't this a little unfair? By that stage we will be one third of a way through the series.

I also notice that less than 50 people have voted on the poll so far, when there are loads more registered on this MB. Get your votes in quick before 10.30! Just think, even if you take a complete guess, you have a one in ten chance of getting the exact score right, and a one in three chance of getting the outcome right. And if you do...then you can brag about it for ever!!! Well, until the next Test series prediction poll which you get miserably wrong!

I predicted a 1-0 win to England - unless the weather goes mental over the next couple of weeks, that is looking very unlikely! Still, with Mark Richardson around, you've always got a chance of a draw, and hopefully my prediction of an overall England win will come true!

To be honest, I think all three of these results are all going to be too close to call, predicting them all correctly will always involve a certain amount of guesswork. It's a brave man who thinks he can predict the outcome of this series!

My wrong wrong wrong comment above was said with a certain degree of tongue in cheekness!

It's true - after all, all three results were possible in this Test up until the last session of play! The next two Tests could quite easily be as close. However, I stand by my earlier suggestion that England have more talent and potential than NZ - it's whether they can make that pay. We'll also have gained a lot of confidence from the win, but likewise, the Kiwis, especially Fleming, will be unwilling to let anyone beat them twice on the trot. If, as you say, Shane Bond will not be able to play in the next Test, I would make England slight favourites for the next Test.

well the way the game is going at the moment the only options are either an england win or a draw as there isn't enough time left in the game for NZ to win it. Unless we do something stunning tomorrow with the ball then the draw looks the most likely, so the series can either be an england win( 1/2-0) or a draw (1-1) depending on the third test.

I predicted a 2-1 NZ win, simply because of how well they bowled against SA and india in May-like conditions at home and because of how good a captain fleming is. However, i wouldn't have guessed just how many injuries the NZ team would pick up on this tour, just how bad they would bowl on the whole, and how badly fleming would be as a captain so far. I'm delighted that these have happened (well not the injuries, no one wants to see that) and that england are playing so well on the whole, i still think they can improve a lot and the bowling has been quite poor in general.

I think only the most partisan or egotistical fan could claim that this current dominance was predicted going on recent form between the two countries and specifically the time of year (i would have predicted 1-0 to england if it had been later in the year, but i thought there would have been much more swing and uneven bounce in may than there has been so far), most commentators agreed before the opening day of the series that this was the best NZ side for many years and much better than the team that won 2-1 last time.

Question for me, which will be answered in the winter vs SA, is whether this NZ side are playing poorly because england are playing so well, or if england are playing well because the NZ side is playing so poorly. I'd like to think it's a bit of both, NZ aren't playing as well as they did last time and have been unlucky with injuries, but i think they haven't been given the chance to settle because we've had such a good opening partnership and contribution from the middle and lower order.

I can't help feeling that, like the previous windies tour, this tour has left more unanswered questions than answers, i guess the only real test is still australia and no other team is consistent enough to mark your progress against.
