Why? Isn't Collingwood the guy who is there because he can cover almost any position in the middle order from 3 to 7 in case of need? Collingwood is more "super-sub" than the next middle order batting talent, isn't he?

It amuses me no end that you all think Piles will be dropped because he will be inefective

Wasn't that the case last summer and in the Windies??

Unfortunately i think he is one of Fletchers favourites....

Well, if your just going to be rude then I'm going to go. Anyway, I seem to have inadvertantly done some damage to the carpet. Now, if I can get that bit of mat out from under the cupboard then I should be able to cover it up........

Captain

Interesting post. I kind of figured something was going to happen in the 'openers' department. The two options I saw happening were to 1/ Replace Trescothick with Strauss and Vaughan/Butcher to open or 2/ Strauss to open with Trescothick and drop Vaughan down the order. Neither option found much support on this board I might add! I certainly conceded that only one of those options would be used, it was always going to be too extreme making two changes.

I do understand why Trescothicks been retained, despite my fairly vocal posts on the subject of dropping him, he's too much of a favourite with Fletcher/Vaughan, has other useful talents apart from batting - he bowls reasonable medium pacers and is the reserve on field Wicket Keeper.

With respect to who is going to be dropped, it can only be either Hussain or Giles. In my mind it should be Hussain, with an extra seamer coming in to replace Giles, but I suspect it will be Giles who goes, with Hussain being retained till he makes his 100 caps.

It will be interesting to see how it all ends up.

Yes giles will be dropped and we can only hope its permenant. Strauss, I think should open, leave nass in as well. Collingwood must be laughing all the way to the bank. He must be the highest paid drinks waiter the world has seen !

I thought the piece in The Telegraph was the writer's suggestion of what should happen, not inside knowledge of what will happen. Correct me if I'm wrong.
