A bit of fun for a Friday afternoon

After hearing a few mumbles of a series between these two teams, who do you think would make the ROW team?

Here is mine -

Tendaulker
Gibbs
Lara
Dravid
Kallis
Youhana
Taibu
Flintoff
Vaas
Murali
Harmison

Don't know why everyone thinks Dravid can keep well. He isn't very good at it. Murali would tie him in knots and the opposition would win purely on the byes conceded!

When you have a top order like the ROW side, you can afford to have a specialist keeper. Even Chris Read would be in with a shout for his glove work.

Here is my side:

Sehwag
Vaughan
Lara
Dravid
Sachin
Sangakkara
Flintoff
Pollock
Murali
Shoaib
Harmison

Reasons:

Vaughan and Sehwag would be a nice complimentary pair....... Sehwag at the top always puts fear in the opposition, Lara at 3 ahead of Dravid because he is a left hander and it would bring in variety......Dravid ahead of Sachin because that is how he is used to bat........ Sangakkara because he is the best keeper-batter I could find. I always felt keeping to the quickies is easier than it is to the spinners and with Murali in the side, you need someone who is used to him. Flintoff at seven, just for the heck of it, maybe I could have picked an extra batter, maybe Laxman, he always loves Australia, but it was a hunch.......Shoaib because he can be the pacy guy while the other guys like Freddie and Pollock can tie up one end, I thought of Kumble too, but that would depend on the pitch and other stuff........If it were a typical good hard bouncy yet true wicket, this would be the side I would like......

Very strange ROW selection you've made - there's a few changes I'd make to that ROW

Opening with Tendulkar? huh? He's a middle order batsman, drop him down the order and open with Sehwag and Gibbs
Insert Tendulkar at No. 3, I'd swop Lara for a third specialist seamer so Dravid at 4.

Youhana? Blink blink! I'd replace him with Fleming as Captain at No. 5.

Why are you playing two all-rounders in Kallis AND Flintoff and only two specialist seamers? you only need to play one allrounder and Kallis is by far the better of the two, so he comes in at No.6.

Taibu as Wicket Keeper? Blink Blink! Sangakarra is a far better WK/Batsman than Taibu ever will be. Gilchrist is the best but I assume he'd be playing for Australia, Sangakarra bats at 7.

Chaminda Vaas? Blink blink! Not a bad bowler, but hardly the best in the world, I'd have Shaun Pollock in there for him, to bat at No. 8.

Murali to come in at No. 9, Ahktar at 10 and Harmison at No. 11.

Line up to be 1 Sehwag, 2 Gibbs, 3 Tendulkar, 4 Dravid, 5 Fleming, 6 Kallis, 7 Sangakarra, 8 Pollock, 9 Murali, 10 Ahktar, 11 Harmison.

No offence, but Fleming ahead of Lara...........I know everyone has opinion but if it is supposed to be for captaincy, then that is something that Rahul has done and done well........Actually winning matches and playing positive cricket, something alien to Fleming...

Aktar (if fit!!)

The keeper was the major problem. Four South Africans, people tend to forget how good they are.

After Vaughan savaged the Aussies he has to play. Shewag only made one score so he misses out. Laxmann could make them grovel but the middle order looks set in stone. Not sure if anyone else could handle keeping to Murali and Sangakarra is a solid bat too so he creeps in. Not having Dravid with the gauntlets. After batting for 2 full days he'd keel over. Skipper is a hard one. Vaughan isn't revelling in the job and Lara isn't a captain, ever. Pollock had a lot to do post-Cronje and seems to have less ego than a few others, you couldn't fail to respect him as a player or a man so he gets my nod.
