You've never heard me rubbish the WI batting. A player like Dwayne Smith showed himself completely at a loss in the Test match arena on a sporting wicket (despite his hundred in SA), but came good when he had licence to thrash. I'm hoping this is the match when Vaughan finally establishes himself in the ODI arena.

Mark, the commentators mentioned the young West Indian players - Bravo, Rampaul, D Smith and Sarwan - all under 24 as being the nucleus for the future. I don't think you can take a young side into the WC and win it. I fancy ENG to go further in the WC because they have more experience in their side. I don't think there is a good understanding of running between wickets between Vaughan and Strauss. They need to work on that. Too much hesitation. Last edited by Mike : 02-05-2004 at 03:15 PM.

I think the Windies batting on flat pitches in ODI's is a completely different proposition to their batting in Tests on pitches that favour bowlers. The West Indies have a lot more 'power-hitters' in their ODI side than they do in the Test side and I certainly don't include Powell in that either! Scott |

Vaughan is the best spinner England have at their disposal although I undersatan he is reluctant to bowl himself too much as he is apparently prone to Atherton-esque shoulder truoble, or so I've heard. That said, he did bowl long spells during Lara's 400*

Whips_Of_The_Bails Posting a good score is the first consideration,Windies are bowling well at the moment,no reason we should not do the same Hmmm
