Gayle is on and I feel we need to take a few off him. At the moment, Vaughan and Strauss are just working the ball for singles but we can't afford to do this for too long otherwise our total may not be enough.

Well, I thought one of these guys would be run-out. They had some let-offs earlier but their running between wickets isn't the best at the moment.

He had to. He was short of two front-line bowlers and had to protect Freddy. He and Trescothick had to fill in with a lot of overs. What was really encouraging was to see how, despite everything, the scoring rate was always kept within check and the batsmen were never allowed to score freely. That disciplined bowling performance saved the Test for England.

Bother.

Run-outs are not clever. Now it's all up to Freddie.

And once again Vaughan throws it away when well set... Had he stayed there England had a launch pad for 300+.

Vaughan got out trying to push the score on. Here's a great opportunity for Strauss to step up a level.

Very harsh to say Vaughan "threw" it away. It required a direct hit and his bat was on the line. It happens.

I like Strauss. He's a busy player and prefers to work the ball than hit boundaries. Glad we dropped Solanki. Our other problem is with Flintoff coming in at 4 and Blackwell too inconsistent we lack another power hitter to bat the last ten overs.

Yes with dropping Blackwell means Freddy has to play with more care, with no more big hitters for the last overs.

Strauss is making a good, solid case for himself, as we hoped he would. He should now start against New Zealand.

Flintoff and Collingwood have to go for the big shots now. Run-rate was just over 3 for last 6 overs. At the moment they are too bogged down and just working the singles. Last 10 overs must go at 6+ per over.

Collingwood turning it on now.
