C & G performances

I followed the NL - Gluocs match yesterday, and was very dissapointed. As I predicted, we saw some very handy medium pace from the Men in Orange - most notably Feiko Kloppenburg who made Gloucs wrok really hard for runs -, but lack of penetration meant NL never got on top. Gloucs would have been wanting 300+ I guess, and NL have a lot to thank Kloppeburg and Reekers for keeping them to 264. Unfortnuately, the second aspect of my prediction - runs from Bas Zuiderent - never materialised, and NL were easily beaten.

Any notable performances from other C&G/other county matches? I'm following the Dorset/Yorks game at the mo' and am very glad to see Silverwood cutting through the buggers - 4 for 12 off 7 and counting. I rate Silverwood, and it annoys me he hasn't delivered on his potential yet.

Leicestershire are 58-5 against Devon !!! and Ireland are having a good go at getting the 262 to beat Surrey!

Dorset 50-6 now...

Wickets for Craven and Blain.

Shame about Silverwood - had bags of potential, but too injury-prone and speed-obsessed to make it at international level. He's just turned 29 and unlikely to break through now I reckon.

On a separate issue, Jon Blain: why??

wahey! Another for craven!

I think it might have something to do with the rats-and-sinking-ship close season this winter. With Gough, Sidebottom and Hamilton gone, White no longer bowling and Hoggard back in the ENG fold, Big Dave must have felt his seam bowling stable was a little empty. OK, Gough and Hamilton were both unlikely to figure too much this seaons for one reason or another, but without them the Yorks seam attack would have been pretty much Sliverwood, Kirby and errrrrrrrrrrrrr.......... thats it! for most of the season. Just not good enough if your home ground is Headingley.

Surely this is the year that Tim Bresnan will come through?

Doh! I forgot Bresnan. Yes - he looks good. Hopefully this is his year. I've never actually seen him play though, so I can only work on second (3rd, 4th, 5th?) hand information. Which might have been why he slipped my mind. Still, I can understand Dave's desire to have SOME sort of backup who is not totally wet behind the ears, if only to cover for injury.

Quite true. Am happy that Arnie's Lad chose to come to Trent Bridge. He will be a very good addition to our seam attack.

Certainly will - again like Silverwood he has more ability than he has had success. I don't think he'll ever be test class, but you can never be quite sure can you....
