And I recall Paul Adams getting him out a couple of times in the SA series. Of course, Adama isn't quite a bits'n'pieces player, but his still an easier prospect than the rest of the SA side. I think Freddie isn't quite so partial to spin bowling, so that could be part of it... and perhaps he feels like he should be going after Sarwan/Gale.

Yes Kirsty,,I think Freddy seems to have more time to plat the quicks than anyone in the team,I have thought about this a lot,he is never really beaten for pace,he get himself out, more than he is got out.But thats FREDDY.

The jury's out to how he plays spin,I mean (sarwan)(adams)and he plays the best quicks with ease.

Yep, it's not like he CAN'T play spinners - I mean he clouted Adams for some big runs before getting out to him at Lorda nad the Oval last summer. Just seems to go for it, and gets out in the end. I wouldn't hold it against him.

I remember Adams being a real git last year when he got Flintoff out...carrying on as though he had got the better of Flintoff when he was going off with a big score to his name...what a ****!!

that said though, adams is still a useful spinner even on english wickets. i watched him take 9 kent wickets in kent v south africa last year and there weren't many who had a clue about how to face him. strong batting lineup as well - key, carberry, smith etc. i'd choose adams over any spinner we have here.
