Ooooooh Mr Can'tPlay - you gonna put the Juju curse on our england Boys! Cannon-fodder indeed..does that make Giles pea-shooter fodder?

Who's going to score the most runs for England then - my vote is Strauss or Freddie.

I'm here !! I'm a bit behind with a few things though and didn't get to see much of this mornings session. I did see some of it and saw all the wickets.

England certainly bowled a lot better than they did yesterday, with the exception of Hoggy. The ball was swinging but he just couldnt get a good line and length. Freddy should have bowled more, he was the better bowler from yesterday, mistake by Tresco to persist with Hoggy in my mind, he should have kept it tight - Hoggy wasn't.

They bowled poorly to Cairns - you don't bowl bouncers to Cairns - he just swats them away for 4. Tight, accurate line and length bowling is needed to Cairns - 'you miss I hit' when he's swinging the bat they way he was this morning - typical ODI innings - 80 odd in 40 odd deliverys.

Should have been Englands session except for Cairns which made it evens. In my mind they let them get 50-100 runs too many - they should have 'contained' Cairns and not let him make so many runs - poor Captaincy from Tresco in my mind.

On the bright side they cleaned out the lower order (taking out Cairns) for about 20 runs which is excellent.

harmison gets my vote, he might look all gangly and tail ender like but if richardson can do it then so can he. I see harmison coming in at 87-9 and taking the score on to 573-9 declared, he just needs to focus

Oh Frank - that's just silly. It's like saying that Tuffers had every shot in the book and just chose not to use them!

I remember seeing Pat Pocock bat in a test in the 80's. He scratched around for ages and when he scored his first run the crowd all cheered and he raised his bat to the four corners of the ground!

Edwards and Best were bowling in the mid 90's and looked pretty effective, this lot stuggle to reach the low 80's and if the sun comes out they could really look like cannon fodder.
Yes, but I feel that this NZ attack is more reliable and consistent. There's also better back-up bowling - NZ have a proper spinner, and Oram and Carins are way better than Collymore and Sanford! Trescothick, however, should profit here, because there's not really fast bowling of the type that unsettles him. I say "should" - he is quite capable of getting himself out. The England openers do seem to be playing fairly responsibly as well.

I agree that they may be better bowlers than the windies because of their accuracy, however atleast the windies bowled some wicket taking deliveries, and tested the batsman. This attack is very similar and I really can't see them destroying England.

The best way they are going to get wickets is boring them out!!

Yawn....

A lot could depend on how Vettori bowls. IMO the area of spinner is the only one where either side has a definite edge - Vettori is miles better than Giles. At the moment they don't have a genuine speedster, but Bond will probably be back for the next Test.

True - the Vettori of two - three years ago may have made a difference, But Vettori has not been in good form and is not the bowler that he was.
