Read is currently proving every weekend that he is possibly one of the best one-day batsmen in the country. Until he starts failing badly for England in that part of the game then surely he should keep his place ? And personally I would have him batting at six in ODIs, he will succeed more often that Blackwell!

Should we be playing a keeper who can't keep?

That's what's being implied. As England fans we've spent hours slagging off Boucher for being so poor with the gloves on. Now we know how the South African's feel !!

Is he having an off day or is Jones's standard. I cant beleive it is. I know we need a keeper who can bat, but not at thtis cost.

Because he let a few byes go by and dropped a catch - that means he can't keep?

He can keep fine - he's just made a couple of mistakes today. He's not a million miles away from Read in ability, and he is ten times better with the bat.

In any case, he's got to be given at least 7 tests to prove himself.

Am I right in thinking that Foster had a mare with the gloves when he first came into the side? He's still mentioned as a prospect, and not derided as a crap keeper!

As I said, he cant be this bad normally or he wouldnt have been picked, no matter how good he is with the bat. If he was picked on batting above all else tresco would have had the golves.

Rachel - i thought the change of boards had calmed you down a bit but no, you still have the ability to talk utter trash. you are being very unfair and you know it, and if you "resent england winning every game which jones plays in" then you can't call yourself an english fan. he had a bad day yesterday (with one flash of brilliance which showed what he can do) and he's kept on a difficult wicket to keep all match. mccullum has let through byes and has fumbled the ball but i don't hear any kiwis clamouring for robbie hart to be brought back. the reason? hart can't bat. mccullum has shown in this match that he can, as has jones.
