Butcher Or Strauss?

Congratulations England,You deserved it.

We now have a team that will soon be cabable off chalenging the Australians.Fine cricket played on a good cricket pitch.

Soon questions will be asked,

Trescothick 88 runs in the match, plus captaining England to victory.

strauss 195 runs in his debut test Match.

Hussain !00 plus runs catches a run out.

Butcher 32 runs in match

Thorpe His winning 50 in the second innings was more than Butchers match figures.

Harald Wilson once said,a week is a long time in polatics.

This week has shown 5 days is a long time in cricket, the heat is off Hussain,it has never really been on Thorpe,so when vaughan returns, who keeps their place,Butcher or Strauss, dropping Giles would be a cop out because he bowled well.

What will be the final England 11 at Headingy?

Depends on the pitch ernest. A seam friendly pitch will see strauss in, efectivly, for Giles. But you know what these selectors are like.

They will be praying for a seam friendly pitch,Richie, then they can take the soft option,it would be a turn up if they dropped Giles after his best game for yonks,Headingly is not the demon pitch it was.

The team should be: Vaughan, Strauss, Butcher, Hussain, Thorpe, Tres, Fred, G O Jones, S Jones, Hoggard, Harmison. It's a no-brainer.

Butcher should NOT be dropped on the basis of one match. If any of the batsmen should go it should be Tres. Replacing him with Strauss would be like for like (leftie opener for leftie opener). but I'd much rather see him drop down, and give Gilo a "rest".

H O L

Your team is sound, ironic though if they do drop Giles,it will be on the back of his best performance for ages, really Strauss should be the one to go,he was only a stand in for vaughan,no they will give Giles a "rest"

It was his best bowling disply in a while. Its pretty sad when you look at his match figures on a dry pitch that they are his best figures for a while. Those whacking great footmarks were tailor made for him and he still didnt get alot of turn. He cant be the best spinner we've got.

No he is not the best, trouble is Richie, the selectors dont look at any others, when I say he did well I mean by his standards,I think we need a spinner,in case the seam attack done work, and to spell them.
Mind you vettori broke no eggs did he?

Sorry, I misunderstood Ernests reply. I think we all agree, Giles should go. All the excitements gone to my head!

I thought Vettori looked dangerous in spells, but he's also going through a bad trot. Problem is we really change a winning team.
