You are right about Ashley Cowan I think, your post had br puzzled for a mo,then a namesake of he's came into my mind.

Norman Cowan or Cowans was not a bad bowler he had his moments,.

Alan Wells not the worst, look at D pringles stats, and I had to watch him game after game,he could not be dropped.

Alan Wells I think went as a Baseball Pitcher in the US,he was not a good player, but he was not the worst (mediocre)

What match winning performances did Pringle achieve?I will stand corrected if I am wrong, but I cant think of any.

In New zealand he once took I think it was 2 wickets for 9 runs,in a one day international.

I'll demote Ashley down to the ranks of England tourist
Poor Alan Wells one innings , out to Curtley Ambrose and never given another chance. Cruel stuff.

Some more candidates I dredged up. Mark Ilott, Les Taylor John Taylor and Arnie Sidebottom.Arnie deserves a special mention he played half a test took a wicket got injured and IIRC retired from the game.

I vaguely remember Pringle having some mild form of revenge in One day internationals. In 1988 he was in the squad that beat the West Indies 3-0.
Also I thought he played in the 1991 Headingley Test where Steve Watkin played so well. It's a long time ago I'll have to check Wisden.

I think Pringle did pretty OK in the '92 WC. With his slinging bowling action, he was always a swing bowler, I am surprised he didn't succeed.

I am a little surprised at his one day stats,44 wickets at 38.11 strike rate of 54.

batting average of 23.61.

I am going to re check his stats impressive stuff.

He is still the worst player though ,his Test stats are appauling, and over a long period.

I saw Pringle a lot,why he did not succeed,he was a plodder,he was awful to watch, one paced, predictable.he would soon be out.
