Isn't that a waste of money? The ECB complain about the lack of contracts they can give out and the lack of money they have, but they give one to a player who might not get a game this summer?

I certainly feel Collingwood deserves to be given a chance. He's hardly had a game at Test level yet and already people are calling for Key to replace him. For goodness sake, let's give the guy a chance with a few games and see what he can do before he's dropped. As fas as fielding is concerned, Collingwood has no equal in this current side, he is quite superb, in my mind he could almost be played for his superb fielding alone.
