Lara is trying to prove today that he is by far and away the worst Test Captain around. Why bring Banks on straight after lunch? and then keep him going ??

The man might be a great batsman but that doesn't make him any sort of captain.

Meeeeoooowwwwww !!!!

I could use this opportunity to call for the captaincy to be given to someone else, and let vaughan retaun to being the great (TEST) bat we know he is.

Hang about I have done !

i'd make timmy the ball boy the captain, he can use a walkie talkie system from the boundary to tell vaughan what to do.

excellent performance so far from key and strauss, lets hope they both continue to get big hundreds, but i'd agree with notts that laras captaincy is awful, but the windies have also dropped catchs and leaked 4 balls at just the wrong time. I feel sorry for tino best as he's bowled with fire and passion but not had much luck, another day he'd have bowled half as good and picked up 3 wickets, but i guess that's cricket for you

Only criticisms i'd have is that key keeps going for the wide shots when he doesn't need to, and strauss needs to improve against spin from the crease, but they're minor points for now, they've both played some great shots and showed a lot of composure. I'm really glad for strauss as he's showing his scores before weren't a fluke (although it is at lords again) and key is making the most of the luck he had early on. I was a critic of key at the begining of the season because i felt he was a lazy cricketer but had heard that he'd been working hard over the winter and had changed his approach to the game, if this is the new rob key then long may he continue, if he gets a hundred and a start in the second innings i'd be happy to see him stay in the side over butcher for at least another test, not that i'd want to drop butcher but no one should just get a slot in the side for nothing.

Arguably like tresco does at the moment when he plays against real pace !?!?!?!

Not having a go at the lad, but I'd be feeling a bit nervous sat in the dressing room at the moment. I hope he's worked at his bowling !

Woof! Thank God I only swing it, in!

Strauss ton? Apparently!

And yes I remembered Jones had bowled that really fine spell... the only thing I can suggest is perhaps Trescothick knew that he only had two reliable catchers... so he couldn't have the attacking field that you wanted.

Next skipper... maybe... he does seem like "the right stuff."

Well played sir. Iknow its his home pitch and everything but you've still got to the business. Another sensible innings. And as there is no Nas to run him out will he get one in the second ? Assuming he needs to bat at all.
