Kallis gone after a mammoth contribution to SA chances in this series. ENG can't let SA get to 450, and early wickets would be an absolute disaster!

England can still win this game- although it will take an Oval 2003 like effort.

You are certainly right. Thier best chance has certainly gone. However, SA have struggled to take 20 wickets in a test for a while now. They managed it each time against WI, but not a single time against IND, or SL, or PAK and only once in three attempts aganist NZ (I've just looked through thier scorecards for last year! ).

If ENG can equal SA first innings (which seems to be roughly par), SA will have to bat them right out of the match in the second, because they will know that ENG are more capable of scoring at 100+ a session than thier bowlers are to get us a/o.

Viewed in that context, SA will have to score a fair bit BEYOND par in one innings (ie. in the second innings!) to pressurise ENG. So long as ENG don't self-destruct, I'd still make them favourites here (if there is a result!).

Nothing to do with racism{which belongs in the past).

Flintoff did well Moss, 4 for, and got kallis, Pollock, and the other big wicket.

I'm still being thick - someone mentioned about racism rearing it's head.
Amla's decision not to wear a logo that goes against his religious beliefs was great.

I assumed that the racism issue had to do with something else - sorry.

Glad Freddie got a brace.

No, the UCBSA selected Amla ahead of Van Jaarsveld, that is what i meant in the racism stakes. VJ made 49 off 51 balls in the last test while HA made 10 in the first dig and 0 in the second.

Seems odd that they dropped VJ under those circumstances.

From the Wisden article, Amla has apparently had quite a meteoric rise to fame - captain of his side at 21 and all that....
