Curiously odd-ball line up.....

Youhana in ahead of Inzi reflects current ODI rating rather than star power... yet there's Sehwag in on star power despite being something like 12th in the Asian ODI batting list (though he's clearly don it in the past)... and Harbhajan Singh should be spitting feathers that Kumble's ousted him for a ODI.. but seniority and star power clearly counts.

Zoysa and Pathan should also be pretty peeved that Zaheer Khan got the nod... and Razzaq and Shoaib Malik must be fuming: they are presumably both left out in the interests of balancing the nationalities involved rather than on cricketing grounds.

Alok Kapali (130th best bowler in world cricket, 71st best batsman) would be a liability.. but Maybe he'll be 12th man :-)

I guess the side wil line up something like this:

1. Jayasuriya,
2. Sehwag,
3. Atapattu,
4. Tendulkar,
5. Ganguly,
6. Sangakkara,
7. Youhana
8. Vaas
9. Kumble / Kapali / Khan
10. Akhtar
11. Muralitheran

Can't see hwere Dravid fits in

Not a match for the RoW side on paper.. but so damn unpredictable that in a two match series they could do anything!

Ganguly ahead of Inzi? Absymal to me that selection. Ganguly doesn't even merit a place in the team, let alone be skipper in by humble opinion. He's not scored a one-day hundred against proper opposition for a while now, and if you take out the 90 odd he made against England in 3rd Nat West ODI, you'll have to go as far back as the first ODI in Australian VB Series to get his next score of note...really indifferent form this...and for my money doesn't suggest you should be in an Asian XI, but I said already I wouldn't really be bothered with who gets selected.

ps: Youhanna batting at 7? Don't u think he'd be a little wasted there?

I suppose that people still remember Gough with affection, that is maybe why he made the squad, yes he is a charecter, and is a good advert for the game, Full Stop

I can not figure out why Pathan was left out. More so, i'm very surprised at Sourav's inclusion, to me he is a very average cricketer lately. His captaincy I feel is the only reason he's in there. I'd be tempted to hand it to Atapattu and have a guy like Yuvraj in the side. And who is Alok Kapali !?

Just came up with a team of excluded players that would probably wipe the floor with both sides :-)

1. Tresco
2. Smith
3. Kallis
4. Sarwan
5. Inzi
6. Symonds
7. Flintoff
8. Pollock
9. Oram
10. Gillespie
11. Ntini / Lee / Harbhajan

That includes the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 13th 18th and 19th rated ODI batsmen and the 1st, 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th / 9th / 14th rated bowlers :-)

Pathan's exclusion is questionable, its fair to say he's out bowled all other seamer India have tried in the last two seasons. I'm not even sure if Zaheer Khan is EVER fully fit. And they've not picked any all rounders, which is abysmal considering its supposed to be a one-day series...Rachael is right, Abdul Razzaq and Shoaib Malik, at least one of them, should have got into this squad...Inzi though, still remains for my money the most glaring omission from this squad.
