If it's cold and overcast in the Morning should we declare?

Vaughnie suggested that if conditions favour the bowlers tomorow he may declare and get the Saffers batting,

Boycott on the radio suggested he was about 30-40 runs short to do that and also suggetsed he should get his hundred first.

So would you declare...

If conditions suited yes. Apparently heavy showers are forecast. Couple of early wickets could be crucial

I Would try and get another 50 if possible in the first hour, if either Vaughan or Harmison goes, the other should really play some MOO shots, one never knows.

declare now. 3 days left. saffers could easily bat two innings over 3 days, if they get into it.

vaughan shouldn't be selfish and play for his hundred........ they need as long as possible to bowl saffers out twice. so i hope for saffers sake vaughan does be selfish and bats more

Two innings over 3 days on that wicket? It's meant to be overcast all weekend. Steve should be loving a bowl on that, still need to get some more runs though.. Just need to quickly slog a few.

look, i dont think steve is all that when he is out of form. fair enough saying that..... but how do any of us know whether he or the otehr bowlers will come out and reak havoc through the saffer lineup? there is no guarantee..... i think it is just being cocky. maybe come out and bat say 5 or 10 overs in 20/20 mode! that would be ok.

otherwise its just being selfish and cocky methinks.

With favourable contitions, bowlers should do well, they don't need to be Glen McGrath if the pitch is doing all sorts (Ask James Kirtley - 6/34 against South Africa) . Sure, you still need to make use of the conditions and you could still bowl badly, but it should be a hell of alot easier bowling on that than on a flat deck.

They have a good enough attack to take out the Africans, so they should declare IMO.

Vaughnie was disappointed at the umpire's lack of consistancy with the decisions to leave the field, and I've got to agree with him, after all, a similar situation cost them the second test.

Boycott is a dinosaur and knows nothing about modern cricket. Ever since the Aussie introduced an attcking aspect to batting the game has changed. Boycott was once quoted as saying that he'd rather get a ton and the team lose than be out for a duck and the team winning. .

I watched the last session and although there is still msomething in the pitch it is a monster under cloud cover - declare in the conditions you describe.

MV is a team player - Boycs is a Tosser.

Anyone see that program on Channel 4 about Boycs, it was on a while ago?

England were playing the Aussies and Boycs was the only batsman who could read their leg spinner. Then Basil D'oliveira got the hang of it and says to Boycs, it's easy when you know how, isn't it? Boycott says.. Yeah, But don't tell the others.
