Lewis Called Up By England..>

J Lewis will be flying of to South Africa, I expect he will be selected to play, in front of Anderson.

Thing is, will Lewis not suffer the same fate as Anderson, he wull have played no cricket for a while.

I have said all along, England squads are to small, and more games against domestic teams are needed between Tests, to keep players match fit.

Anyone agree?.

selectors fault that neither jones or anderson (world class) have not played cricket consistently for a year.
eqaully though i can't believe were now in the position from once being the 2nd best team in the world to now having to call up any old tosh like lewis. He's going to be so out of his depth it's going to be worse than ed smith! through into one day cricket if you think he deserves it but this would just be humiliating for him and us. What about saggers, johnson, caddick, mahmood, kabir ali? i think they'd at least get by.

Whatever happens, England's bowling attack in the 5th test is going to be uninspiring (bar Hoggard.)
Now would be a good time to come into some form.....you know who you are!!!

Not to my knowledge, in fact Aggers, AD and Boycs on the radio tonight were all bemoaning his surprising exclusion. Inexplicable to include Anderson instead of an in-form Jones.

Hoggy has got the wickets in this match, and has played well, but I would say that Flintoff has bowled as well as anyone, he before this Test had took most wickets, and even in this Test, has bowled well, (pity about his batting), his bowling is economical, and back to the good old days, catch, or catches dropped of his bowling.

Harmison what has gone wrong, not sure he is not homesick.
Anderson, well what did they expect, with so little cricket IMHO, he should not have been selected, not fair on the team, or him.

Simon Jones, was getting into some form, and was dropped.

G O jones, I would hope this is just a one off with his catching.

Vaughan may well be a good captain, but as a selector along with Fletcher had a lot to be desired, Read/Jones revisited.

I know little about Lewis, but he could not have played much cricket, he may well have kept himself fit, but then so did Anderson.

I understand the reasoning for dropping Simon Jones. Okay he had not bowled badly but niether had he been eye catching. As an SA supporter I felt he threatened more than delivered. Apart from his spell in the 2nd innings of the 1st test he was just steady.
So Vaughan and Fletcher were looking for alternatives and they thought wrongly as it goes that Anderson would be worth having a go.
