Anyway, I would stick with both Jimmy and Geriant. I like Simon Jones, but I think to give Jimmy one game and then drop him would be cruel.

The debate about the keeper is raging over here http://www.world-a-team.com/showthread.php?t=2123
However much I would try to put on an accent as good as Mr Gowers, never sounds the same!!

Anyway, I just dont think Anderson is good enough at Test level, one dayers maybe, but who knows.

Might have a ganders at the keeper thread, cheers!

I agree that, that theory could come into play. However, Australia for example will change their team if in their opinion it strengthens it, and they continue to set the bench mark as to how cricket is played. If there are improvements to be made, then do so. If memory serves me right, Jones came into the squad, after England took a 3-0 lead in the windies!!

Yeah, and after he was brought in Lara scored 400 and England drew!

But I agree in principle with your idea - I would have personally not dropped Jones in the first place (I mean Simon) but now that they've picked Jimmy it would be even more silly to give him just one test and then drop him again

Undecided with regards to the keeper's debate - I think Jones (Geriant) is a decent enough test bat, he's just stuck right now, I don't understand for once why he is so intent on playing the hook shot all the time, its not workiing for him is it, why not duck underneath and try spending some time in the middle - that lad is trying too many things right now for my money, and that's what's causing his downfall, I'd probably give him one more chance

You're right Kristy, as I said before too, Jones is trying too many things, he needs to go and talk to some one levelheaded enough to tell him that in the right way.

Yes, I think perhaps he is trying a bit too hard at the moment....but overall there has been an improvement in his keeping from the start of his career.

I think, in fairness to him, he is trying to be all things to all people. The classic example was when he tried taking a 1st slip catch.

I dunno if its confidence or anything like that - or maybe there is an issue with comunication with the fellow slips
