Fair enough!!!
Ern,

I am with you that McGrath cannot go on forever. However, there is a huge difference between Malcolm and him, and there is really no comparison.

We do expect bolwers to retire a lot earlier than batsmen. But Walsh played for years, there are always exceptions.

We canot rule out McGrath, he is a quality player, and has been for years. That isn't going to change in the next 5 months...

Trying to get back to the final SA test...

Could England be in a position to win this?
6 wickets left if we can make a 1st inns +100-150 SA need to push on, and wickets can fall in that situation...

If England can see off the New ball after lunch I think we've got a good chance of forcing a victory. Thorpe and Flintoff have batted very sensibly this morning, thus dappening SA spirits.

I think we should take a risk and declare just 20-50 runs in front and then let SA go for it and hopefully many quick wickets will fall for around 150-200 runs lead max. Then we simply glide past this with Tresco, Strauss and maybe a few other batsmen

I reckon Jones will come in and score some runs now the pressure is off and Freddie and Thorpe have done the hard work. Then we'll hear how great he is.

Just my prediction, mind you.

Just wonder if England are bowled out/declare tonight and the light starts to go will SA bat on under lights and try to have a go, or just give up and try to save the game?

Looks like Freddie is going to entertain the crowd for a while. Let's hope it lasts an hour or so at least, then they will be completely demoralised!!

I am hoping both Fred and GP Thorpe can bring up triple figures. Freddie's a personal favourite and Graham can end this tour on a high with two centuries from five tests
