He doesnt seem to be, if england want a bowler who can bat a bit in the lower order they need look no further than Kabir Ali.

Nup, a decent first game, but not alot else after that. Maybe Kabir Ali will take his place full time, that guy is meant to be able to bat a little bit.

To be honest, you really dont want the last 4-5 in the line up facing a ball if the top 6 or 7 do the job right.

But its handy to know if you get to the nitty gritty you've got bowlers who can bat coming in at 8 or 9. Look at yesterdays game between Aus and WI, the Aussies could have been bowled out for 220 if it weren't for Lee and gillespie in the end those 2 added 50 plus thus setting a decent total.

True, Gillespie is a world class bowler in any form of the game and even if he didnt know how to hold a bat he'd get picked. The fact he has test 50s to his name is merely a bonus !
