I'm not sure 270 is a good enough score on a flat pitch against the like of gibbs, kallis and arguably devilliers as well, unless our bowlers keep it tight. Very tight. 20 runs short if we dont.

It's nice to see what a mature, sensible bunch of fans SA have got - Let's continue to act like children about Pieterson, and even better lets totally ignore the fact that he has hit a blindingly good century!! That'll make all the difference in the world!!

I've never seen such a poor responce to a player getting a ton in my life!! Well, Kevin seems to thrive on it, so hopfully they will continue to be silly for the remainder of the tour!!

Good effort by England - bit of a sticky period in the middle, but generally positve. I know Vaughan will get a bit of stick for the slow pace of his innings, but he did well to hold things together at a difficult period.

Pitch is quite slow, not as flat as it looks, 270 is a good score on this track

It looks good, but its not quite coming on to the bat as you would like, thats why even when pieterson was set he struggled to time the ball

The thing the looks to seperate KP from Hick is that he seems REALLY bloody minded and doesnt give a toss about anything like opposition players or fans. As long as this abrasive nature doesnt extend to his team mates he's just what we need.

Some very ordinary bowling by SA. The bowlers can't help it if they not good enough which they aren't. So we have to go with what we have like everybody else.
Pietersen innings was good but he was a bit flattered by the lack of quality bowling. Hopefully the long batting line up will do it. I think they have to get a flyer.
Yes Pietersen has definitely left SA for good the overwhelming white SA crowd failed to buy into his excuses of quota systems. And they if anyone would have had sympathy him.

RBLC - I found it quite nice that Piterson made a point to say how much the team, and playing for England, means to him in his interview post-innings today. I was actually quite surprised by the warmth he managed to convay, especially as I've always seen him as a bit of a cold fish. Perhaps he does have the ability to be a team player after all, which has always been my main reservation about him. I will be interested to find out!

34-0 off 10 is hardly setting the world alight. Smith seemd to start well enough but Gough and hoggy have slowed thme down a bit. Is the ball still keeping low SKY viewers ?????
