Second one-day international, Bloemfontein:

Well it's the 2nd ODI tomorrow, should be interesting play sarts at 12;30 GMT, so it's a day and nighter.
Ironic I think when Tset matches were called off for bad light, in bright sunshine.

Well thats in the past, white ball cricket time, can England win these matches without the help of Jack Duckworth method.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cric...nd/4226723.stm G O Jones to open the battimg in a one dayer, that should be interesting.

Please post you pre match thoughts here, and your match comments.

PS, To none Englanders work out Jack Duckworth. .

Ern, have you been at the scotch again ??? S Jones is currently winging his way back to blighty, replaced by (probably) non other than the harminator. G JONES, squirrel-like wicketkeeper(ish)/bat will be opening the BATTING tommorrow !

I really don't get this one. What has Jones done to get all these "Jones will be doing this for x amount of time" guarantees ?? No-one else ever gets such a run! He isn't Adam Gilchrist, let's stop trying to pretend he is! Let the batsmen bat and sticking a part-time keeper in above proper batsmen just gets in the way. Either Strauss or Vaughan should open if they've decided that Solanki is a bit too hit or miss (though I don't see Jones as being any different!).

I'm a bit mystified myself, its not like tresco and strauss are slow scorers. Jones, however, unlike solanki, does have a purpose rather than being a hit-or-miss opening bat.

I too am mystified by his opening. Tres and Strauss are a good pair - why split them up by a man who - whilst he can bat well - isn't that good by comparison to Solanki et al?

look at last year Moss, when it comes to ODIs, England seem to have a self destruct button.

What has G O Jones done to merit promotion to opener, he is no better. nor as good as Solanki.

Jones will make the opening slot his own you watch. He is very talented and has all the shots.

Fancy him to get a quick 50+ tomorrow

Are the bowling conditions under lights in Bloemfontein the same as Cape Town?
