I don't lose hope, Zainub, that's for sure. But I need something to smile about this weekend! Spent yesterday gloomily contemplating England's loss to SA on Friday, then watched France beat Scotland in the rugby and then Wales do the same to England. A consolation prize today would go down well!

I wasnt going to mention the rugby!!! hehe

Back onto the subject in hand... we really do need a wicket taking bowler... James Anderson please? My preference would be to let him go back to Lancs for next year and keep him as a one day specialist, dont even call him up to the test squad till he is ready for it.

Jimmy Anderson has been handled horribly. His confidence right now will be pitch zero, and I doubt (given his lack of match practice in the last two seasons or so) that he'll do well if he's given a call up, you are right, in fact spot on. He was a gifted bowler, who had the knack of taking wickets, and he lost that because of they way he was selected/dropped/handled. What he needs now is a good season of county cricket, lots of overs under his belt, hopefully that will mean him getting some wickets and consequentially some confidence in his bowling. And then England can think of bringing him back.

Well I agree YBF, Anderson could not have doen worse, they should have played him, harmison should have gone home, he is not interested.
Did we get beat by Wales. I never noticed

You are so right, but he would be better than what we have, they should have let him play himself into some sort of form.

Cricinfo suggests that GO Jones walked without waiting for the umpire. I do like to see this - but I would have been happier if he'd stayed around for a while. I see Michael Vaughan has now followed Jones home. Not a great start for England.

Trescothick rooted to the spot, presumably? Little chance of him ever walking - too much foot movement needed.

Pleased to see people walk, even when the pressure is on, and things not quite in your favor.

Hopefully a big partnership here to get things back on track, match not over for my money, not yet.
