I'm sure the prospect of Flintoff coming in (and presumably often missing out on a knock) at 7 would not appeal to many people. Pieterson and Flintoff at 4 and 5 is pretty obvious really.

I'd go with NEon that one. But we need freddie for his bowling at the moment because we are totally at sea without his bowling. Thats the main thing i can take fom this series so far - we're one major player short.

Who isn't all that bad as an ODI batsman...

From a neutral point of view, England would be better off making Vaughan a test specialist. Australia did that with M.Taylor and S.Waugh with success

I disagree - Vaughan is too valuable as Captin. Trescothick has shown he is not great at making decisions when he has Captined the side. Vaughan is not a great OD player, but he is vital to the side none the less.

I've never been impressed with Trescothick when he's been captain. Vaughan is much better and he has a real killer instinct too.

I think England should persist with Vaughan as one day captain at least until the end of the Ashes series. If his form is still poor then maybe England need to make a change with still some time to integrate the new captain and whatever before the World Cup. And I say this as a huge Vaughan advocate.

I think he should play the anchor role in the one day team, at the moment I'm not sure he knows what sort of game he should be playing and it's causing him to play some stupid shots. If he just settled for accumulating, especially through the tight overs (15-40) then he could be a crucial player for England. They already have a few quickscorers anyway in Tresco, Freddie and Pietersen.

If we are going to drop vaughan from the ODI side, I'd be inclined to give the captaincy to strauss. He's done it at middlesex so has some experience. Wouldnt rule freddie out either, he's made it clear he'd like to lead the side.

I've also just noticed that without the matches against Zimbabwe our current "wicketkeeper"/batsman averages 17.66 in ODIs. Another candidate for the job averaged 21.6 and was dropped.

I'll get me coat now. <ducking>

I've been impressed by GO Jones in his batting... He can do a good job... I think teh rest of this ODI will reveal whether he can continue uo the order, or whether he should be lowered back down or dropped altogether and someone else wicketkeeper..

We'll have to watch the rest to find out...

If he's incapable of doing the job as a batsman (which is what he's picked for) then bring someone else in. Whoever that is should then be given a proper chance just like Jones has been done, not that anyone before him was given the same freedom to express himself!!
