When Flintoff Returns to ODIs, What Then??, For Pieterson??..>

Freddie is going to get back in the England one day team, that much is sure.
But his inclusion although welcome by some, creates another set of problems.

Who do England drop to make way for him, Pieterson would seem the obvious one to go, but after his brilliant 100, I think he is safe.

So question is, when Freddie returns, who should go?,who do you think "will"go, thing is, Flintoff is a front line bowler, better than any on show at the moment.

So it is a problem.

Imagine England on 200 for 5 after 30 overs, and Flintoff and Pieterson at the crease together, could be carnage, just let them both be on form at the same time, and watch the records tumble.

But will Englands selectors dare?, would you want Flintoff and Pieterson in the same side?.

just a thought.

Damn right they need to be in the same side, i think Vaughan is the key, if he can get it back into his head that he can open with Tresco, we can then have a middle order that consists of Collingwood/Strauss/Flintoff/Pietersen

(Ern i know your not a fan of the idea but i think england are proving at the moment that the one day side needs Freddie, you are right - he's the best one day bowler we have and we're missing him at present)

I think thats the obvious one, he hasnt done anything wrong but he's probably the only one you struggle to see a real role for in the batting line up.

No I am not keen, as a general rule, in particular with Freddie, who plays with better shot selection, sinse he batted 6 in the Test side
You are right he is needed, that to me is the problem, but I am sure we could have picked a better one day squad than what they have, bet they banked on Flintoff being fit for these ODIs.

Hmm.

I am NOT liking Strauss down the order.
Put him back as opener with Banger, please!

Bell or Solanki are the obvious ones to go, unless you get rid of Vaughan and make Tresco captain...

Line up I'd like to see:

Trescothick
Strauss
Solanki/Bell
Vaughan
Flintoff
Pietersen
G Jones
Giles
S Jones
Harmison
Hoggard/Gough

Strauss
Solanki
G Jones (WK)
Pietersen
Flintoff
Collingwood
Giles
S Jones
Harmison
Gough

Drop Vaughan, bring in Solanki and bring in Flintoff

Jones at number 4 ? So he can waste the time before Pietersen and Freddie get to the crease? The best batsmen should get in as early as possible. Jones isn't in that list, not by a very, very, very long way.

Can't see why Jones is batting up the order in the first place when we have the batting order we do.

Depends on the condions who should be playing, Colly has shown he can do a job as a 5th bowler in the right conditions, certainly with Vaughan, Pietersen, and Trescothic as back up.

1. Trescothic

2. Struass

3. Vaughan

4. Bell

5. Pietersen

6. Collingwood

7. Flintoff

8. G Jones

9. Giles / 3rd Seamer

10. Hoggard / Ali

11. Gough / Harmison

my 9/10/11 is fluid based on conditions, fitness, and form.

If Jones is coming in at eight then we have no need to put up with inept wicketkeeping dispays and may as well go back to the best keeper available.
