Harmison - No homesickness when i'm playing

So Ern, Yuh can't blame his poor performances on homesickness now, eh?

Well Pete my dad always told me never to belive what you read in a newspaper, and I have added a bit onto this for my children, "in particular the sun".

Well a bid tough guy like Harmison is not going to admit he let being home sick spoil his form, and if he believes that himself, I wonder what is between his ears, you suffer with home sickness, you can't in my opinion turn it on and off, it would get on his nerves, like anyone else.
By what he is saying, he does not get home sick when playing cricket (when his mind is occupied), so what about when he was out with his mates playing golf, in the bar ect.

If he is telling the truth (which I doubt), they he is one **** bowler to bowl so poor in every match in South Africa, taking the heat into consideration as well.

BTW, well spotted in the Sun .

Yeah let's just knock him shall we. Batsmen are allowed to have poor series, but if a bowler does then it must mean he is rubbish.

He had a bad series every player who has ever played Test cricket has had a poor run of form. But let's not go too over board and keep in mind that he has had one bad series following three fairly good ones.

It won't take long for him to click back into gear, and I wouldn't bet on it being against the Aussies,

The big reason for his failure to get into the series was not homesickness, but not bowling for two months, then having to find his rythmn in the first test (because there was a stupid run-in with no real chance to get into form) and then back-to-back Tests with no chance to evaluate what is going wrong and finally a nigglying injury...

Why cant he just say I was **** then ! Hoggy didnt have much in the way of preperatioin and he bowled ok. Also when we played them at home he was almost as crap then (bar the last when he was excellent). Perhaps its a saffer thing.

No I an not knocking him ff, according to Petes post, he is saying his poor form was not caused by home sickness, well Harmison has only been a top international bowler for a couple of years or so, so if he has no excuse for such a poor season, then questions will be asked.

I myself think that his form was a combination of home sickness(he just would not admit it to the Sun IMO), and extreme heat.plus the cancelled tour of Zimbabwe did not help, but other players coped, Hoggard and Flintoff were stars.
But even they looked jaded.

I agree Harmison will bounce back this year, and against the Aussies, if I were them I would not read to much into the South Africa tour.

The man does not llike touring, he can't help that, so he should not be considered for future England tours until he has his problem sorted, if he ever does.

Don't be too sure about that, I suffer from Depression on and off and I've noticed that, providing I haven't got so bad I can't concentrate at all, concentrating on something diminishes or blocks it for the period of time when I'm concentrating (although it still comes back when I stop concentrating), and I can see that working with other psychological type problems as well.

Yes Alison I take your point, I really do.
But there is a difference, you are at home with your family, Harmison was thousands of miles away, he had noware to turn, I am not saying you are wrong, but I IMHO think Harmison was suffering on the South Africa tour.

Look at his bowling, he would not have got in any club sides with those figures, he has more talent than that.
